Advantages of the MOB scheme include broad applicability to plasmids of Acinetobacter and Pseudomonas spp. as well as Enterobacteriaceae, and inclusion as well of integrative conjugative or mobilizable elements (ICE and IME).
Lack of the latter function produces an integrative mobilizable element (IME) that requires the missing functions in trans for transfer by conjugation.
Both ICE and IME can contain transposons, ISs, and integrons.
ICE and IME thus share many of the functions of conjugative and nonconjugative plasmids except for their preference for a chromosomal location.
